Life can feel really overwhelming sometimes. With so many assignments, expectations and looming deadlines. The seemingly inevitable stress and anxiety that comes with these things can start to feel comforting, as if it becomes a part of your daily life and without it you’d feel lost. So, when the school term ends, it is easy to feel like you need to fill your time with work or really anything to keep your mind stimulated.
I personally fall victim to this a lot, even on weekends when I really don’t have anything I need to be doing, I will find something. Whether it’s re-arranging the wardrobe that I already colour coordinated the day before or planning out my calendar for the following term even though my school already offers one.
What I don’t realise a lot of the time is that doing nothing at all is still a valuable use of our time, that to relax and allow for your mind to be empty is actually a great wait to care for yourself and your mental health and wellbeing. There may just be a day where you don’t want to leave your bed. As long as you make sure you are being healthy by opening your windows and having enough to eat and drink, there is nothing wrong with it at all! Watch that show that you have never had time to before, make yourself that meal that you’ve always wanted to try or change up your style and experiment with makeup or new hairstyles.
Instead of nothing days, these can be days that you dedicate to yourself by doing as much or as little as you want. But you have to make sure that you take advantage of these times, as soon enough the busyness of life will start again, and when it does you can still implement these relaxation days into your week, they may just be a little more difficult to manage.
